Overall purpose of the role:

To support the work of team by managing, monitoring and progressing the projects to completion. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Project planning and delivery
  • Establish and maintain project plans for all projects
  • Monitor and report on progress 
  • Carry out research to support project aims
  • Take accountability for delivery of specific aspect of projects
  • Work with project leads to develop project plans and agree appropriate actions
  • Maintain records of decisions, meetings and finances 
  • Working groups - arrange and calendar Working Group meetings
  • Follow up agreed actions from Working Groups
  • Prepare and circulate Working Group notes
  • Maintain relevant Terms of Reference and other governance administration, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations 
  • Communications - Prepare project updates for communication via website, social media platforms and publications
  • Publicise environmental activities and initiatives through all channels
  • Maintain project information and updates for access by all parties
  • Organise and manage events
  • Support the development and implementation of the Climate Action website
  • Develop excellent working relationships with all key partners, agencies and organisations in the local community and sector specialists 

Role requirements: 

  • Good knowledge of and a passion for action on climate change issues
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience of developing action plans, setting and monitoring targets
  • Effective communication skills and experience of communicating through different platforms
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative
  • Knowledge and/or experience of website content development
  • A collaborative approach to working with a range of stakeholders and organisations
  • The ability to overcome problems and propose practical solutions
  • Previous public sector and/or experience of working with volunteers is desirable


This role is for between 20 – 24 hours per week paying a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000pa. it is initially a 6-month contract position with an opportunity to be extended going forward. Some evening work will be required but this will only be around 2 evenings per month
