Machine Setter / Operator
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000.
Location: Tring.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Job Purpose:
The Machine Setter/Operator shall be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a variety of milling and turning machines in the build of products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement machining strategies and action plans, as directed by the Machine Shop Team Leader, to ensure that the manufacturing facility supports the business strategic objectives.
  • Manufacture products and work with engineering to provide input to new developments and legacy products.
  • Work within a small multi-disciplined team, operating and maintaining the equipment with focus on operating CNC Mills and lathes.
  • Follows Housekeeping requirements, Health & Safety Processes & Risk assessments while maintaining a safe and clean working environment throughout the facility.
  • Interpret engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished work piece.
  • Be able to sequence operations, tooling, programming and setup requirements to manufacture components efficiently
  • Liaise with Quality on non-conformance & suggest resolution activities.
  • Maintain batch traceability on raw material delivered and usage on Shop Orders.
  • Ability to recognize, solve & implement required changes for machining related problems.
  • Work in co-operation with Manufacturing team to ensure product meets the agreed standard.
  • Ensure that production documentation is kept up-to-date, accurate and legible.
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Information Security Policy.

 

Requirements:

Essential Skills:

  • CNC Lathe and Milling Machine Setting & Operating.
  • Familiar with speeds and feeds for Aluminium and Stainless Steel.
  • Understanding of programming languages FANUC, ProtoTRAK, G-Code.


Desirable:

  • Haas/XYZ/Bridgeport Machine Experience.
  • Manual Turning & Milling.
  • Use of 3D Modelling software (Solidworks HSM or Fusion 360 or OneCNC)
  • Basic CMM experience.

Qualification:

  • Apprenticeship trained preferred (or suitable experience).
  • BTEC NVQ Level 3.
