My client is looking for a Management Accountant to operate all aspects of the finance function and produce monthly management accounts as part of a small Administration Team under the overall management of the Administration Manager

Finance Management

  • To operate the income and expenditure spreadsheets, reconciling them with the budget
  • To oversee the production of invoices and receipt of payments
  • To oversee all aspects of cash management including collection and security of cash
  • To reconcile bank accounts with the I/E spreadsheets
  • As part of the Admin team, to authorise BACS payments and sign cheques
  • To manage the transition to appropriate software if appropriate

Management Accounts

  • To provide the Finance Committee (which meets every 2 months) with management accounts and update the current forecast
  • To provide management information and statistics (eg bookings Income)
  • To provide ad-hoc reports as requested. 

Annual Accounts

  • To assemble and process all relevant data for the production of the annual accounts
  • To oversee the audit process and liaise with the auditors
  • To reconcile and adjust the accounts post audit
  • To provide information for the Finance Committee and the Board


  • To manage the structure of the accounts
  • To manage all the data within the accounts
  • To liaise with the Trustees and department budget holders
  • To produce the draft budget and assumptions
  • To assist with formulating and implementing the budget plan


Making Tax Digital

  • From the quarter starting 1 October 2019, we will be required to submit VAT returns digitally via MTD-ready-software.  We will need to have this software installed and be ready to start submitting our VAT returns digitally by the end of that quarter. 

Statutory returns

  • To complete and submit quarterly VAT returns (including partial exemption calculations)
  • To prepare and file the accounts with the Charity Commission.

Financial Oversight

  • To attend and inform the Finance Committee
  • To provide information to the Trustees as required
  • To attend managers’ meetings, which are generally monthly 

Experience & 
Skills Required:

  • Strong Excel skill set is essential;
  • Relevant qualifications: CIMA / ACCA; 
  • Experience of Charity Accounts;
  • Positive team attitude, open to working as part of a close-knit team but capable of working independently;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
